Renowned Latvian actor Paul Butkevich, who starred in nearly 150 films, has died at the age of 85.
According to the news portal "Baltijas Balss", the actor passed away recently.
Butkevich gained fame in the post-Soviet space for his roles in Soviet film projects, including the multi-episode films "Seventeen Moments of Spring" and "Midshipmen, Forward!". He also appeared in "Long Road in the Dunes", "An Unfinished Supper", and "Mirage".
Throughout his career, Butkevich acted in over 150 feature films and TV projects, starting in the 1960s. In 2016, he was awarded the IV Class "Recognition" Cross for his contributions to Latvian culture and cinema.
