British actor Michael Byrne has died at the age of 83.

Born in North London, the actor began his career at The Old Vic, which at that time held the status of the Royal National Theatre. In the 1960s, he shared the stage with famous actors such as Laurence Olivier, Maggie Smith, and Robert Stephens, playing minor roles in various plays.
Michael Byrne later continued his work in other London theaters and simultaneously built a successful career in film. He became particularly famous for his role as SS Colonel Walter Vogel in 'Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade' (1989), starring Harrison Ford and Sean Connery.
Among his memorable works are characters from the James Bond series in 'Tomorrow Never Dies' (1997) and 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1' (2010).
