Russia launched missile and drone attacks on the Ukrainian cities of Odesa and Dnipro, damaging residential buildings and injuring dozens. Russian officials reported two deaths in Ukrainian drone strikes on Russia's Belgorod region.
After over four years of war, peace efforts remain stalled. Both sides accuse each other of regularly attacking military, civilian, and energy targets.
Ukraine's air force said Russia launched 524 drones and 22 missiles starting Sunday evening, continuing overnight. This followed a major Ukrainian drone attack on Moscow over the weekend.
In Dnipro, 22 people were injured, including a 2-year-old girl and a 10-year-old boy. Governor Oleksandr Hanzha said apartment blocks, a religious institution, and a university were damaged.
President Volodymyr Zelenskiy stated: "Russia relies on ballistic missiles to strike people. That is why Europe must do everything to ensure reliable protection."
Ukrainian energy firm Naftogaz said drones struck several of its facilities in the region.
In Odesa, Russian drones damaged residential buildings, a school, and a kindergarten. An 11-year-old boy and a 59-year-old man were injured.
Russian drones also hit three foreign-flagged ships in the Black Sea, including a Chinese-owned cargo vessel, according to Ukrainian authorities.
In Russia, drones were downed over Rostov and Belgorod regions. Two people were killed and two injured in Belgorod, local officials said.
