Improper use of air conditioners in hot weather can cause runny nose, sore throat, headaches, and even muscle spasms.
Russian therapist Ivan Eryomenko warned RuNews24.ru that overcooling rooms is a common mistake. He recommends keeping the temperature difference between indoor and outdoor at 5-7°C, and not setting the AC below 22°C.
Sudden temperature changes increase the load on cardiovascular and respiratory systems, leading to headaches and exacerbation of chronic diseases.
Direct cold air should not be directed at the face, neck, chest, arms, or legs, as it irritates mucous membranes and causes muscle spasms. It's better to distribute cool air evenly throughout the room or direct it upward.
Air conditioners can reduce humidity to 20-30%. To maintain a comfortable 40-60% humidity, use humidifiers or open water containers, and regularly ventilate the room.
