Russian gastroenterologist Andrey Simakov has stated that detox drips are useless for healthy people and can be harmful. In an interview with lenta.ru, he emphasized the serious risks associated with these procedures.
Simakov said: "The biggest danger of drips sold under the guise of body cleansing is wasted money. It's pure marketing hype. The human body constantly performs detox functions on its own, as the kidneys and liver work continuously."
The expert added that these procedures create a false sense of improvement and encourage spending on unnecessary medical services. Programs combining detox with fasting and strict diets are especially risky. Weight loss in such cases is mainly due to water loss, not real health improvement. For the elderly and children, these practices are more dangerous due to the risk of muscle loss and nutrient deficiencies.
