One of the world's smallest towns, Kooladdi in Australia, has been put up for sale. Currently home to just two residents, the settlement is valued at 400,000 Australian dollars (approximately 280,000 US dollars).
Located 800 km west of Brisbane in Queensland, Kooladdi offers buyers a four-bedroom house, motel, shop, pub, and a four-star restaurant.
Current residents Carol Yarrou and Jo Cornel purchased the local complex in 2023 but failed to revitalize the town in three years. Yarrou is retiring, and Cornel plans to move, prompting the sale.
Once a major railway junction, Kooladdi had a peak population of 270. Decline began when the railway was extended in 1917, and passenger services ceased in 1967, leading to mass exodus.
Today, Kooladdi remains a vital stopover for travelers through remote Australia. The town's quiet, measured life attracts former residents and tourists regularly.
