Unknown individuals have robbed the St. Nicholas Temple of the Russian Orthodox Church in Tehran, the capital of Iran.
According to Oxu.Az, the Russian Embassy in Iran reported this on its Telegram channel.
The embassy appealed to the criminals, urging them to return the stolen icons to the church.
It is noteworthy that the St. Nicholas Church in Tehran is the main Orthodox temple of the Russian community in Iran and a cultural heritage site of the country. It was built in 1945 based on the design of architect Nikolai Markov.
