Egypt's Strategic Command of the Armed Forces has officially opened its new headquarters, the "Octagon" complex.
According to Oxu.Az citing tvgram.ru, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi announced the news.
He stated that the new complex will further strengthen the army's ability to respond to modern threats.
Located in the new administrative capital, the "Octagon" complex covers approximately 22,000 acres. It includes eight buildings equipped with modern infrastructure and cyber defense systems.
Egyptian leadership expects the "Octagon" to become an analogue of the US Pentagon and demonstrate the country's growing military potential.
The complex is designed as an integrated command center to coordinate the activities of the military and state institutions both in normal conditions and during crises.
According to Egyptian authorities, the headquarters is equipped with a multi-level protection system and is built to operate continuously even in emergencies.
The "Octagon" is a closed military town, covering a small part of Egypt's new administrative capital. The town includes separate residential areas for military personnel, officers, and service staff families.
