Jerson Palermo, leader of one of Brazil's largest drug cartels, the First Capital Command (PCC), has been arrested.
According to Oxu.Az, this was reported by the G1 news portal.
The criminal, who had evaded justice for six years, was caught during an operation in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia.
Palermo, sentenced to 126 years in prison for drug trafficking and attacks on police in Brazil, was hiding in an exclusive residential complex. Local authorities reported that he resisted arrest and was injured, then taken to hospital under guard.
Bolivian special forces handed him over to Brazilian authorities after brief extradition negotiations.
Palermo was considered a key figure in PCC's connections for cocaine supply from Bolivia and Paraguay. He coordinated drug routes and armed operations against rival groups for a long time.
His hometown, Ponta Porã, is located in the "triple border" zone where Brazil, Paraguay, and Argentina meet, a strategic point for drug trafficking.
Palermo managed to avoid arrest by frequently changing locations and using an extensive information network.
