The European Union is ready to play a leading role in resolving the conflict in Ukraine. This conclusion was reached by participants of the EU Council summit on June 18 in Brussels.

According to Oxu.Az, this is stated in a declaration on the European Council's website: "Europe plays a key role in the future settlement and is ready to defend its interests."

The declaration also notes that the EU is ready to "intensify" its involvement in resolving the Ukraine conflict.
