The head of the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), Brad Cooper, described the investigation into the strike on a girls' school in Minab as "complex" during his speech at Congress.
According to him, the school was located within a facility used by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) for deploying cruise missiles. Lawmakers asked if the U.S. would admit its mistake. Cooper said the investigation is ongoing.
The "Shajarat al-Tayyibah" girls' school in Minab was hit by Tomahawk missiles on February 28, the first day of the joint U.S.-Israel military operation against Iran. Iranian reports say 168 people were killed.
In March, The New York Times reported that preliminary investigations pointed to U.S. military responsibility due to outdated intelligence.
