Ukraine buys 16 Gripen jets from Sweden

Ukraine and Sweden have signed an agreement for the purchase of Gripen E fighter jets.

Under the contract, Kyiv will receive 16 aircraft along with equipment and technical support.

President Zelensky stated that the first 16 Gripen C/D fighters will arrive in early 2027.

Defense Minister Fedorov noted that deliveries of Gripen E will begin in early 2029.

Ukraine is financing the purchase with EU support and UK assistance; pilots are already training in Sweden.
