Iraq has seized approximately $116 million in cash and assets as part of a sweeping corruption investigation involving politicians, senior officials, and businessmen.
According to Al Hadath TV, the funds seized from suspects exceed 100 billion Iraqi dinars (about $76.3 million). Additionally, $40 million in cash was found during searches of suspects' homes.
The investigation also led to the confiscation of dozens of illegally obtained vehicles and hundreds of unregistered weapons. Earlier, at least 200 arrest warrants were issued.
On Sunday, 47 high-ranking officials and members of the Iraqi parliament were detained on corruption charges.
