A 4.4 magnitude earthquake struck Naples, southern Italy. According to local media, residents rushed into the streets in panic.
The Italian National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology reported that the epicenter was located in the Phlegraean Fields, a volcanically active area stretching from the western borders of Naples to the Mediterranean Sea.
No damage has been reported initially. However, this is considered one of the strongest earthquakes in the region in recent years. It was felt at the foot of Mount Vesuvius and in various districts of Naples. As a safety measure, classes were suspended in several schools today.
