The European Union (EU) and US officials have reached a common agreement on regulating the legal basis of a trade agreement.
According to Oxu.Az, this was announced by Jelana Zovko, a member of the European Parliament from the European People's Party, on her social media account.
"We have reached an agreement! The dangerous escalation of the transatlantic trade crisis has been prevented, and the security of European enterprises, investments, and millions of jobs on both sides of the Atlantic has been ensured," she said.
Zovko emphasized that from the very beginning, she had stated that the EU could not withstand a trade war with the US, a key strategic and economic ally. She noted that in times of instability, loyal friends should not become enemies but preserve their partnerships.
Recall that in early May, discussions between EU Trade Commissioner Maroš Šefčovič and US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer in Paris, focused on US tariffs on European cars, ended inconclusively. Reports indicated that while Šefčovič proposed returning to previous terms, Greer refused to revoke the US decision to impose 25% customs duties on European cars.
