US Energy Secretary Chris Wright has stated that the Strait of Hormuz will be reopened no later than the summer of 2026.
According to a report by CNBC, Wright said passage through the strait will be restored as soon as possible, but definitely by this summer.
He warned that if Iran continues to hold the global economy hostage, the US military could forcibly open the strait, though that is not an easy task.
"We have taken initial steps, but it is better to reach an agreement without resorting to military force," Wright noted.
In late April, Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei stated that Tehran plans to maintain control over the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz, aiming to ensure security without US involvement.
