The Iranian government has decided to expand car import opportunities across the Iran-Azerbaijan state border.
Oxu.Az reports that the "Azad Iran" Telegram channel spread this information.
According to the new decision, the Bilesuvar (Iran) customs post, located in the Ardabil free economic zone, has received the status of one of the authorized crossing points for the clearance of imported cars. Thus, a new route for car imports on the Azerbaijan-Iran border has been launched.
The decision was made amid easing restrictions on car imports and rising demand for foreign cars.
According to Iranian officials, the main goal of the initiative is to speed up import procedures, reduce the load on other customs posts, and optimize transport and storage costs.
It is noted that the opening of the new route will accelerate customs clearance of cars, ensure more efficient use of storage infrastructure, and reduce part of operational costs.
The Bilesuvar customs post is emphasized to be of strategic importance for trade in the northwestern regions of Iran due to its proximity to the Caucasus transport routes and the Azerbaijani border.
