The person behind the shooting in Stade, Germany, has been identified as a 45-year-old German citizen of Turkish origin.
Lüneburg police chief Katrin Schoel stated at a press conference that the suspect was born in Germany, lives in the Hanover region, and has Turkish roots.
All victims were employees of a childcare center or guardianship service. The motive may be a custody dispute over the suspect's three-month-old daughter. The child and mother were at the facility but uninjured.
