Iran, together with Oman, is discussing the creation of a permanent toll system that will formalize control over maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.
Oxu.Az reports this, citing Bloomberg.
"Iran and Oman must mobilize all resources to ensure safety and manage shipping in the most efficient way," Iran's ambassador to France, Mohammad Amin-Nejad, told the agency.
The diplomat justified the economic aspect of collecting tolls from foreign ships passing through the strait, adding: "This process will entail certain costs. Of course, those who want to benefit from this flow will have to pay their share of those costs."
