Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaiichi shocks the world with surprising decisions and controversial statements. Taking office in October 2025 as Japan's first female leader, she is known for her hardline political stance and conservative views.

Dubbed the "Iron Lady," she emulates Margaret Thatcher. For the first time since WWII, she lifted the ban on exporting lethal weapons. A deal was reached with Australia for the sale of three guided-missile frigates worth billions of dollars.

New rules allow exchange of spare parts and components with partner countries. Japan currently has agreements with 17 countries, including the US, UK, and Australia. This move signifies a significant departure from its pacifist position.

China expressed "serious concern" over Japan's "reckless militarization." Japan's Self-Defense Forces are the world's seventh most powerful military. The samurai are returning to the big game.
