Every alcoholic drink contains ethanol, and according to Russian psychiatrist-narcologist Ruslan Isayev, this substance is equally harmful regardless of the beverage type.
Strong drinks (vodka, whiskey, cognac) quickly raise blood alcohol levels, but beer and wine are more insidious. They are socially acceptable, reducing people's vigilance.
Sweet cocktails and alcoholic energy drinks pose a special threat. Sugar and stimulants mask ethanol's effects, leading to overconsumption.
Isayev emphasizes: there is no "safe" alcohol; ethanol is always the same psychoactive substance. Addiction forms more through the frequency of rituals than the strength of intoxication.
