On June 11, for the first time in Ukraine, doctors issued official electronic prescriptions for cannabis-based medications. This was reported by the 'Ukrinform' agency.
The prescriptions were written by neurologists at the Vinnytsia Regional Clinical Psychoneurological Hospital. The medications were received by a female patient suffering from multiple sclerosis and two veterans with chronic pain syndrome.
According to the doctors, the medications are based on cannabidiol, which is used to reduce pain, alleviate anxiety and stress, and treat certain neurological diseases.
It is noted that these medications are included in both international and Ukrainian treatment protocols, do not cause euphoria, and are not addictive.
Experts state that cannabidiol has strong anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects, making it useful for reducing chronic and muscle pain. Additionally, it can be used in the treatment of severe forms of epilepsy, especially in children.
