Minister of Culture Adil Karimli has revealed problems in the library sector. He noted shortcomings in infrastructure and content.
The minister spoke at a public discussion at the Milli Majlis Culture Committee. He said libraries currently meet only 35% of the population's needs.
The goal is to increase coverage to 95% by 2025 and eventually 100%. A new library service network is being formed.
Karimli added that the state budget allocates 600,000 manat annually for book purchases. Priority is given to scientific and popular science publications.
