On June 2, a ceremony will be held at the Akhalkalaki railway and logistics complex in Georgia to mark the relaunch of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) railway after modernization.
Officials from Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Turkey, along with railway and port administrators and logistics companies, will attend the event.
On May 18, a protocol of the 41st meeting of the Coordination Council was signed in Baku with the participation of President Ilham Aliyev and Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, confirming the completion of modernization works.
In 2024, ADY carried out modernization on the 184-km section of the BTK in Georgia. The project covered 13 stations, 55 bridges, 8 traction substations, 320 buildings, and engineering structures. A new 30-km railway line was built, and 153.1 km of existing track was rehabilitated.
As a result, the annual cargo capacity of BTK increased from 1 million to 5 million tons, making it a key land route from China and Central Asia to Europe.
