Federal Reserve Bank of New York President John Williams said on Thursday that the central bank's monetary policy is in the right place given the outlook, adding he expects inflation to be high in the near term with pressures easing later this year.
"Right now monetary policy for the Fed is right where we want it to be," Williams said at the Reykjavík Economic Conference in Iceland.
Williams noted that policy is "slightly restrictive" and the Fed is "well positioned to continue to learn" before deciding on rate changes.
