Iran's top negotiator, parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, told Pakistan's army chief Asim Munir on Saturday that there would be no compromise on what was described as the rights of the Iranian nation.
Field Marshal Asim Munir visited Tehran and held talks late Friday with Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, who also held separate discussions with his counterparts in Oman, Turkey, Qatar, Iraq, and UN Secretary General António Guterres.
Mediators, including Gulf countries and Pakistan, are urgently working to draft a framework agreement to prevent fresh US and Israeli military strikes against Iran.
The primary diplomatic impasse centers on which issues must be integrated into the immediate framework. Washington demands Iran suspend uranium enrichment and surrender fissile material. Tehran seeks an end to the war, lifting of blockades, and financial relief without upfront nuclear concessions.
President Donald Trump convened a meeting of top national security officials on Friday. No formal decision was reached, but officials indicated the president wants to grant more time for diplomacy.
