Azerbaijan is fully self-sufficient in fruits, vegetables, and melons. These products also play a key role in agricultural exports.
Ramil Huseyn, deputy executive director of the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication, told Oxu.Az that the new State Program (2026-2030) will boost the fruit and vegetable sector.
The program aims to increase intensive and super-intensive orchards by 20,000 hectares and modern greenhouse complexes by 500 hectares. This will raise productivity and expand export potential.
In 2025, agricultural products dominated the top ten non-oil exports: tomatoes ($193 million), hazelnuts ($170 million), cotton yarn ($160 million), persimmons ($144 million), and peaches ($111 million).
The program targets modern irrigation systems on 170,000 hectares, improving water efficiency and competitiveness.
Notably, 63% of investments will come from the private sector. The state encourages private sector participation.
