Azerbaijan is moving closer to adopting an hourly wage system, according to MP Vugar Bayramov. The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection is actively drafting legislation for the new model.
Bayramov highlights that developed countries have successfully implemented hourly wages, which offer several benefits. Workers will receive fair overtime pay and can take on multiple jobs to boost their income.
The shift from monthly to hourly calculations will enable precise tracking of working hours and higher wages. International practices suggest that special coefficients will apply for work on holidays and after hours.
Currently, the draft law is being refined, with minimum hourly rates aligned to monthly minimums. The exact launch date will be announced after final approvals. This reform marks a significant upgrade to the labor compensation system.
