Azerbaijan has updated excise tax rates for several imported fuels. Prime Minister Ali Asadov signed a decree introducing new rates for motor gasoline and diesel fuel.

According to the decree, gasoline with a lead content not exceeding 0.013 g/l and an octane number below 95, as well as similar high-lead gasolines, will face an excise duty of 200 manats per ton. The same rate applies to leaded counterparts.

Diesel fuel will be taxed at 80 manats per ton. However, from May 1, 2026, to March 31, 2027, both gasoline and diesel will temporarily incur a symbolic excise of just 1 manat per ton.

The decree also sets import quotas for SOCAR during that period: 205,000 tons of AI-92 gasoline and 201,000 tons of diesel. These changes are expected to influence fuel prices in the local market.
