Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation (AHIK) hosted an event on "Promoting Gender Equality in the Workplace."
The event was attended by representatives of central executive authorities, AHIK, and the International Labour Organization's Bureau for Workers' Activities (ACTRAV).
Deputy Chairman of AHIK Musa Mirzayev highlighted the country's democratic development under President Ilham Aliyev and the high level of human rights and freedoms. He emphasized efforts to promote gender equality and strengthen women's role in society, noting the special contributions of First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva.
It was stated that the Confederation is particularly sensitive to gender issues, taking important steps to create equal opportunities in labor collectives and support women's active participation in the labor market, focusing on enhancing social security and ensuring safe working conditions.
Head of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs Ceyran Rahmatullayeva, Deputy Head of the State Labor Inspection Service Narmin Mirzayeva, and other speakers discussed gender policy and opportunities for women's active involvement in all areas of socio-economic life.
ILO gender specialist Özge Berber Ağtaş, joining online, stressed the importance of gender equality for inclusive and sustainable labor relations.
The event concluded with a presentation on "Gender Equality: Family, Labor Market and Strategic Agenda for National Development."
