A historic moment in the NHL. A 72-year record was shattered in the third game of the Stanley Cup final series between the Vegas Golden Knights and the Carolina Hurricanes.
The Hurricanes scored three goals in 39 seconds in the third period. Jordan Martinook, Taylor Hall, and Jordan Staal each found the net.
The previous record was 56 seconds, set by the Montreal Canadiens in 1954. In the playoffs, the fastest three goals were 23 seconds by Toronto Maple Leafs in 1979, but that was not in the finals.
Vegas won the game 5-4 in overtime, taking a 2-1 series lead.
