Athlete to Serve as Head Referee and Compete at European Championships

Zaur Jafarov, official representative of the World Powerlifting Congress (WPC) in Azerbaijan and international referee, has been appointed head referee for the WPC/AWPC European Championships in Ireland.

According to Oxu.Az citing AZERTAC, the competition will take place from June 1 to 6 in Limerick, Ireland.

Jafarov will officiate the most important matches from June 1 to 5. On June 6, he will switch from referee to athlete, representing Azerbaijan and competing for medals at the European Championships.

Two other athletes will also represent Azerbaijan as part of the WPC Azerbaijan team: Elmir Tarverdiyev in the AWPC deadlift and Orkhan Farzaliyev in classic raw powerlifting.
