Azerbaijan national team head coach Aykhan Abbasov said the friendly match against Malta was played at a high tempo.
According to Oxu.Az, he spoke at a press conference after the match.
The specialist emphasized that despite the 0:2 defeat, his team created many goal-scoring opportunities.
"It was a disappointing loss. But we saw 90 minutes of high-paced fight. The injury of Khayal Aliyev disrupted our game plan. Yet we created many goal chances. However, we need to finish them and maintain the tempo.
"I said we would take risks in friendlies. Because this is our last camp before the Nations League, and we want to see all players. Although I am happy with the chances, we are sad we didn't use them. I believe we can capitalize on these opportunities in the match against San Marino," Abbasov noted.
Note that our national team will play its next friendly on June 9 in Hungary against San Marino.
