Bad News for Argentina: Balerdi Injured

Argentina's national team has been dealt a blow: defender Leonardo Balerdi will miss the upcoming World Cup due to injury.

The team's press service announced that the 27-year-old has a right calf muscle injury.

Coach Lionel Scaloni must now decide who will replace Balerdi from the preliminary squad. Candidates include Marcos Senesi, Lucas Martínez, Germán Pezzella, and Lautaro Di Lollo.

Balerdi has played 11 matches for Argentina. The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be held from June 11 to July 19 in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.

Argentina is in Group J with Algeria, Austria, and Jordan.
