All 24 teams participating in the Baku-Khankendi cycling race will want to come back to Azerbaijan, said Sahib Alakbarov, Vice-President of the Azerbaijan Cycling Federation.
Alakbarov, who is also chairman of the race's organizing committee, praised the event: “Every region of Azerbaijan offers beautiful scenery. The race is going well with full security. Each of the 24 teams will want to return in the future. They are impressed by our country.”
He also highlighted efforts to develop cycling: “Where there is enthusiasm, progress follows. In villages, people use bikes more than cars. Within 7-8 months, we established cycling sections in districts, attracting children. Sections operate in Gadabay, Gabala, and Shamakhi.”
The UCI 2.1 race features 24 teams from 20 countries, with a prize fund exceeding 50,000 euros. The 5-stage race concludes on May 14, with the final stage held in Khankendi.
