Brazilian national team's 1970 World Cup winner, iconic defender Brito, has passed away at the age of 86.
According to FIFA's official website, Brito died after a week of hospitalization due to complications from pneumonia.
The defender made his debut for the national team in 1964 and played in the 1966 World Cup match against Portugal. His brightest moment came at the 1970 World Cup in Mexico, where he was part of the legendary squad.
Brito becomes the seventh player from Mario Zagallo's unforgettable 1970 squad to die, following Everaldo (1974), Fontana (1980), Felix (2012), Joel Camargo (2014), Carlos Alberto (2016), and Pele (2022).
