Chelsea FC's management has met with Xabi Alonso, former Real Madrid player and coach. Journalist Fabrizio Romano reports that negotiations are ongoing.

The final decision on the appointment is expected soon. The club is actively searching for a new head coach and plans to announce the name before the World Cup.

Other candidates include Andoni Iraola, Oliver Glasner, and Marco Silva.

Alonso last coached Real Madrid from June 2025 to January 2026, leading the team to 20 wins in 28 matches.
