The Columbus Crew, where Azerbaijani national team player Nariman Akhundzade plays, has parted ways with head coach Henrik Ridstrom.
The club management decided to terminate the cooperation due to unsatisfactory results.
General manager Issa Tall explained: "Unfortunately, we were unable to fully utilize our potential. We did not achieve the results that our club and loyal fans deserve. We believe we have enough talented players to compete for the championship. This change is the right step towards our main goal."
After the 50-year-old specialist's departure, Laurent Courtois has been appointed as interim head coach until a permanent replacement is found.
Ridstrom was appointed on January 1, 2026. The Columbus Crew currently sits in 13th place in the Eastern Conference with 13 points after 14 rounds.
