A chain-reaction crash occurred 20 km from the finish of the second stage of the Giro d'Italia.
According to TASS, the accident happened on the 221 km route from Burgas, Bulgaria, to Veliko Tarnovo.
The crash started at the front of the peloton on a bend, with UAE Emirates riders falling first. Mundo Deportivo reports that about 30 cyclists were involved.
Sharp metal barriers along the road worsened the crash. The race was temporarily halted.
