The Democratic Republic of Congo national football team risks being excluded from the 2026 World Cup due to the spread of the Ebola virus.
According to ESPN, Andrew Juliani, executive director of the White House World Cup working group, said the team must undergo a 21-day quarantine in Belgium to be allowed into the tournament. Otherwise, entry into the US may be denied.
The DR Congo team has already moved its training camp from Kinshasa to Belgium. They are in a group with Portugal, Uzbekistan, and Colombia.
On May 17, the WHO declared the Ebola outbreak in DR Congo and Uganda a Public Health Emergency of International Concern.
