The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) has allowed bringing water in plastic containers to stadiums during the 2026 World Cup (WC-2026).
According to Oxu.Az, the governing body of world football made an announcement on its social media account.
"Fans will be able to bring one soft plastic bottle of water with a sealed cap, up to 20 ounces (590 ml), to all matches of the World Cup to be held in the USA and Canada," FIFA stated.
It is noted that regular water bottles of the specified size will be allowed into the stands, but hard plastic and reusable containers will be banned.
No information has been provided on what rules will apply in Mexico. According to Bloomberg, certain legal issues must be resolved in the country before such rules can be implemented.
On June 4, FIFA updated its stadium entry regulations, banning the bringing of empty plastic bottles into the arena. The organization justified the new requirement with security protocols.
