The International Football Federation (FIFA) has demanded that Senegal's national team remove the star representing their Africa Cup of Nations victory from the shirts they will use at the 2026 World Cup.
Journalist Mikey Junior reported on X social network, as cited by Oxu.Az.
Senegal won the Africa Cup of Nations in 2021.
According to FIFA rules, only national teams that have won a World Cup or an equivalent official title are allowed to display stars on their shirts.
On June 13, FIFA made a similar decision regarding Egypt's national team. Egypt planned to use seven stars on their shirts to symbolize their seven African Cup of Nations titles.
Additionally, FIFA did not allow the use of gold numbers on Egyptian players' shirts and demanded a more contrasting color.
