The International Football Federation (FIFA) will pay the full fee to Somali referee Omar Artan, who was denied entry to the United States for the 2026 World Cup.
According to Oxu.Az, the BBC reported the news.
Omar Artan tried to enter the US with a diplomatic passport but was denied entry at Miami International Airport without any explanation. He was sent back to Istanbul.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino called the incident unfortunate and said the organization could not fully control all processes.
Note that Omar Artan was set to be the first referee from Somalia to officiate at the World Cup. He was later appointed as the main referee for the UEFA Super Cup between PSG and Aston Villa.
