Qatari referee Abdulrahman Al-Jassim awarded the first corner kick for time-wasting at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The incident occurred during the match between Portugal and DR Congo (1:1).

Early in the second half, the Congolese goalkeeper failed to release the ball within the mandatory five-second limit.

This rule has been applied for the first time at a World Cup.
