German national team players reportedly refused to take the crucial penalty in their 2026 World Cup match against Paraguay.
According to Oxu.Az citing "Bild", defender Jonathan Tah ended up taking the final spot kick because no other player wanted the responsibility.
It was Tah's first penalty in his professional career. Other players hesitated and dared not step up.
Among those who hadn't taken a penalty yet were Leon Goretzka, Waldemar Anton, Nathaniel Brown, Malik Tchau, and goalkeeper Manuel Neuer. However, Tah missed the decisive kick.
Paraguay won 4-3 in the shootout.
