The Grand Prix judo tournament will be held in Qingdao, China, from June 26-28.
According to the Azerbaijan Judo Federation, 17 judokas (11 men, 6 women) will compete in 10 weight categories, with the event offering Olympic qualification points for Los Angeles 2028.
In a surprising move, Olympic champion Hidayat Heydarov will compete in a different weight class. Usually fighting at 73kg, Heydarov will now compete at 81kg due to weight management issues.
Other male competitors include Ahmad Yusifov, Balabay Aghayev (60kg), Ruslan Pashayev, Tofig Mammadov (66kg), Rashid Mammadaliyev (73kg), Zelim Tckayev (81kg), Aslan Kotsoyev, Murad Fatiyev (90kg), Jamal Gamzatkhanov, and Ushangi Kokauri (+100kg).
Women's team: Konul Aliyeva, Shafag Hamidova (48kg), Gultaj Mammadaliyeva, Leyla Aliyeva (52kg), Fidan Alizade (63kg), and Sudaba Aghayeva (70kg).
Head coaches Richard Trautman (men) and Amina Abdellatif (women) will lead the team.
