Lazio sack head coach Maurizio Sarri

Italian club Lazio have announced the departure of head coach Maurizio Sarri.

According to the club's press service, the parties mutually terminated the contract.

The 67-year-old Sarri coached Lazio from 2021 to 2024, then resigned in 2024, and returned to the team in 2025. Under his leadership, the club finished the 2025/26 season in 9th place in the Italian championship.

Reports suggest that former Italy national team head coach Gennaro Gattuso will replace Sarri.

During his career, Sarri won the Italian championship with Juventus and the UEFA Europa League with Chelsea.
