French striker Kylian Mbappe has become the first footballer to score at least three goals in the knockout stages of three different World Cups.

Oxu.Az reports this with reference to TASS news agency.

Mbappe scored a penalty in the 70th minute of the 2026 World Cup round of 16 match against Paraguay (1:0).

This was his 7th goal in the current tournament and his 3rd in the knockout stage. He had previously scored two goals against Sweden in the round of 16 (3:0).

Mbappe scored three goals in the 2018 World Cup knockout stage (two against Argentina in the round of 16, one against Croatia in the final) and five in 2022 (two against Poland in the round of 16, three against Argentina in the final).
