Mexico's 40-year-old goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa has made history by playing in the 2026 World Cup.
The experienced keeper now matches Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in terms of appearances at the most prestigious international tournament.
According to Oxu.Az, Ochoa came off the bench in the group stage match against Czech Republic, which ended 3-0.
Thus, Ochoa has now played in six World Cups, equaling the record of Messi and Ronaldo.
Notably, Ochoa did not play in the 2006 and 2010 World Cups. He was listed in Mexico's official squad but did not take the field in those tournaments.
Recall that the 2026 World Cup is jointly hosted by the USA, Mexico, and Canada. The tournament started on June 11 and will conclude on July 19.
