A celebration in Mexico after a victory over Ecuador turned deadly as two people died in the crowd.

According to British newspaper "The Sun", a 44-year-old man and a 19-year-old girl suffocated during the festivities.

The incident occurred near the Angel of Independence monument in Colonia Juarez. Chaos erupted as a group of people were crushed into a public restroom.

Emergency services provided first aid and CPR at the scene, but the victims could not be revived and later died at the hospital.

The tragedy happened just minutes after the Mexican national team defeated Ecuador at a stadium in Mexico City. Over one million fans had gathered in various parts of the city to celebrate the win.
